Monitor Groups
Groups help you organize monitors by project, environment, or any other criteria.
Why Use Groups?
Without groups, all monitors appear in a flat list. As you add more monitors, this becomes hard to manage. Groups let you:
- Organize by project — "Production", "Staging", "Client A"
- Organize by type — "Websites", "Databases", "Certificates"
- See status at a glance — each group shows a single status dot (worst status among its monitors)
- Collapse green groups — groups where everything is fine are collapsed by default, so you can focus on problems
Creating a Group
- Open the extension settings page (click the gear icon in the popup)
- Click Create Group
- Enter a name for the group
- Click Save
Adding Monitors to a Group
When creating or editing a monitor, you can select a group from the dropdown. A monitor can belong to one group or no group at all.
Group Status
The group's status dot shows the worst status among all monitors in the group:
| Monitors in group | Group status |
|---|---|
| All green | 🟢 Green |
| At least one yellow, none red | 🟡 Yellow |
| At least one red (non-critical) | 🟡 Yellow |
| At least one red (critical) | 🔴 Red |
Auto-Collapse Behavior
In the popup, groups are automatically collapsed if all their monitors are green. This way, your attention is drawn to groups that have issues. Click a group to expand it and see individual monitors.
